Rocklin Board Seeks Pro Bono Legal Council

At the May 1st 2024 meeting, the School Board noted that in closed session the majority directed the Superintendent to seek pro bono legal services for the fight the board needlessly picked with the California Department of Education and our students. At previous meetings, Superintendent Stock and district staff assured us the increase in Legal Services spending was not an issue, but now district time is being used to find a law firm who will try to strip rights from our students for free.

There will likely be an agreement presented to the board for these legal services at the May 15th board meeting. There is no doubt the board majority will approve it as they introduced and approved the Gender Notification Policy over the clear consensus of the Rocklin community. We are predicting the board will use a law firm they temporarily contracted with in the past, one that proudly announces their commitment to “Judeo-Christian values.” This is just another example of the board majority pushing their religious agenda into our schools.

At the May 15th board meeting they will also be discussing redistricting; if you’ve seen recent meetings they are very concerned with the new districts being put in place because they will affect their changes for reelection. They’ve spent way more time asking questions about redistricting than they did about the Gender Notification Policy.

The next board meeting is May 15th, so be sure to attend and make your voice heard if you disagree with the actions of the board majority.
